DOGSCALE now online!

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is extremely common in dogs and renal damage is progressive; in the later stages of the disease, it lowers the patient quality of life. It is estimated that about 25% of dogs of any ages are affected; the risk of being affected by the disease is higher in areas endemic for vector borne diseases (e.g. leishmaniasis, ehrlichiosis, etc.) and in patients suffering from illness of the mouth, the skin or the immune system. CKD is often difficult to identify, especially in the early stages of the disease, if specific tests are not performed (more info at www.petkidneydisease.com). An early diagnosis of CKD and a proper treatment can offer the dog a better quality of life.

DOGScale could guide you in identifying CKD in your dog but it should not be intended as a diagnostic tool. Your Veterinarian is the only one who can get the final diagnosis of CKD and can advise you about how to manage it properly.

Veterinarians who want to help improve DOGScale, can enter the data of patients with chronic kidney disease filling out the "Owner’s surname" section with their own last name and warrant number; this will allow us to use the data entered in reviewing the scores.

DOGScale is available on iOS and Windows devices (PC, tablet, Mac and iPad), optimized for Chrome (1 and upwards), Firefox (3 and upwards) and Opera.

DOGScale has been developed with the support of Hill's Pet Nutrition Italy srl, Merial Italy SpA and Pharmacross Co. Ltd
